The future beyond possibilities

 The Company

Under the direction of Davi Rodrigues, The Lamondance Company is a five-member performance company that supports the further development of artists committed to making dance their profession.

LMD has five full-company positions. We proudly offer paid performance opportunities throughout the season and the possibility of short-term project-based work.

The mission of the Company is to provide a place where refined artists can do what they love and to provide the community with high-calibre dance. The season runs from September to June, and dancers must attend all classes and rehearsals (weekdays between 8 am and 1:30 pm).

The company runs separately from the training program, but there are opportunities for collaboration throughout the season. The dancers have daily body conditioning and technique classes in ballet, gaga, improvisation, and contemporary dance.

The company's repertoire is rooted in contemporary dance and aims to bring established and emerging choreographers each season.

Past choreographers include Davi Rodrigues, Anya Saugstad, Wen Wei Wang, Nicolas Ventura, Dance//Novella, Vanessa Goodman, Noam Gagnon, Alexis Fletcher and many others.

This is a project-based company, and dancers are paid and compensated following CADA West guidelines.

Apprentice Program

Please note that Lamondance also offers the opportunity to join the Company as an Apprentice. This position is tailored specifically for dancers who have completed their training (at least two years of post-secondary education) and are seeking their first professional role while still requiring further development. Apprentice dancers become members of the company and will perform in all works (when cast) alongside established company members. They will engage in a variety of activities related to the production of new shows and the creative process, including participation in classes with our professional dancers.

The apprenticeship program provides invaluable learning experiences, allowing dancers to immerse themselves in our company's repertoire and gain insights into various aspects of show production. This includes understanding the roles of choreographers, costume designers, and producers, which enriches their professional development in the dance industry.
